Cascade Air at Southwest Washington Regional Airport (KKLS) in Kelso is a 50-minute drive from Portland. Less traffic, shorter taxi times, published pricing, and personal instruction from a family-owned team — not a volume operation.
Why Cascade Air works for Portland
Portland has flight schools. The question is whether you want to train at a busy PDX-area airport where you spend lesson time waiting in a traffic pattern, or drive 50 minutes north to a calmer field where you are actually flying. Cascade Air at KKLS is family-owned, publishes its pricing publicly, and treats students like people — not seats to fill.
The drive from Portland
The drive from downtown Portland to KKLS is approximately 50 minutes via I-5 north. Cross the Columbia River into Washington, continue past Vancouver, and take Exit 39 for Kelso. The airport is on your left. Parking at the FBO is free and steps from the aircraft.
Training programs
Cascade Air offers the full training ladder — from your first discovery flight through advanced ratings. Everything stays with one local team at one airport, so you never have to switch schools to get your next certificate.
